Travelling to New Zealand
All visitors to New Zealand must have a valid passport for at least three months beyond the intended stay in New Zealand It is the responsibility of all delegates to obtain valid entry permission for New Zealand.
Participants from countries who do not have a visa waiver arrangement with New Zealand will need to apply for a visa before they travel to New Zealand. Visa waiver countries are found on immigration New Zealand website: www.glossary.immigration.govt.nz/VisaFreeCountries.htm

On completion of your online registration, a Letter of Invitation will be sent to you to attach to your visa application and to keep with your travel documents when you arrive in New Zealand.
We recommend that applicants apply for their visa at least 6 weeks before they intend to travel. In some countries Immigration New Zealand does not have visa processing services so it is important that the applicants allow sufficient time for the applications to be sent to the appropriate office and for the passports to be returned. Transit visa for Australia
Many delegates may need to travel through Australia to get to New Zealand. Some countries are eligible to transit through Australia without a transit visa.

Please note that Australia will not grant a transit visa without confirmation that their New Zealand visa has been approved. This means that participants must apply for their New Zealand visa as soon as possible.
Please note: We are unable to fast-track visa applications; therefore, delegates are advised to lodge visa application at least 6 weeks before the Congress.
Customs and Entry Procedures
If you have not travelled to New Zealand before, you may never have experienced the emphasis on agricultural and biosecurity protection that you will find here. When you arrive in New Zealand, you will need to go through an entry process involving immigration, customs and biosecurity checks. It is normal practice for all carry-on and hold-stowed baggage to be subjected to x-ray screening for undeclared organic material.
We have some of the strictest quarantine controls in the world. Prohibited items include some live animals, animal products, some meat products, eggs, some live plant material including fruit, seeds, and products made from endangered species. There is no law against bringing quarantine goods into New Zealand as long as you declare them. Biosecurity staff will advise you if you can or cannot keep any items with you. It is normal for travellers arriving in New Zealand to see and be questioned by people in uniform and you may see our inspectors accompanied by one of our detector dogs. These dogs are specially trained to search baggage, mail and cargo to locate undeclared or forgotten agricultural products. Delegates are therefore advised to take great care and declare any and all necessary items.
After you collect your baggage and clear Passport Control, either:
- walk through the "Nothing to Declare Way Out" (green exit) if you have not declared any Customs or agricultural goods on your arrival card; or
- go to the "Goods to Declare Way Out" (red exit) if you have declared any Customs or agricultural goods on your arrival card, or you are unsure which exit to use.
Regardless of the exit you choose, Customs officers or Quarantine officers may still search the baggage of any traveller. Transportation from Auckland International Airport to Hotels
Delegates need to make and meet the cost of their own transport arrangements from Auckland International Airport to their hotel and/or the Congress venue.
A taxi fare from Auckland International Airport to the SKYCITY Convention Centre, SKYCITY Grand Hotel and SkyCity Hotel is around NZ$75.

Super Shuttle offers a shared ride option. The approximate cost for the trip from the airport to the city is NZ$35 for one person and an additional $8 for each extra person. A regular 10-minute Airbus Express service is available from the Airport providing a direct service into Auckland’s Central Business District. The service drops off at designated stops down Queen Street and terminates at the downtown Ferry Terminal next to Britomart. Tickets cost NZ$16 one way and can be purchased from Airbus Tickets Kiosks, direct from drivers (cash only) or pre book on-line at www.airbus.co.nz.
